Visiting Marvin and his retro supermarket

Went to visit Marvin in Harlingen yesterday, teaming up with Dion from Leiden which I haven’t seen in a quit a while. Shopping in the retro supermarket, Marvin is operating overthere.

Behaved myself, and just got myself some small stuff…spend about 55 euro.

A book from Rodney Zaks, some manuals I wasn’t sure if I had them already, in mint condition. Two games (The Hobbit & Colossal Adventure), KCS (P002) Speedmon boxed, a Input 64 tape collection and…..a Com-In 64 unit. Was looking for that one, had already the cartridge with the software and the manual, but the i/o board was still missing. Until yesterday.

The Com-In 64 manual and softwars was written hy Rob Maris. He was the one behind the Mac-64 as well, an oscilloscoop and voltage meter for the C64. (See my other posts). Rob probably did the hardware design for the Com-In as well.

Anyway, product made in the Netherlands, 1983 and probably only sold and used over here. The software and i/o board was used for radio communications. Will try to test it later, and make another posting about the Com-In 64.

Recap collection March

What has been added last month to my collection, an overview! Spend 940 euro, which made this quit an expensive month.

Highlights:

  • Commodore 64c Connoisseur’s Collection, yellowed, complete
  • Commodore 64c Test Pilot Collection, in mint condition, complete
  • Commodore 64G Video SuperGames, the 64G in mint condition, complete
  • Commodore 64 Aldi (german made or late breadbox version), yellowed, sealed, shortboard
  • Commodore 64G brand new, as in..brand new
  • Ultimate II+
  • Commodore 64 mini, ah well
  • Several eprom cards and eprommers
  • Commodore SoundExpander

The missers….

  • Late C64c with clips….had a 250407 assy, not original 🙁
  • C64, to be repaired..probably PLA
  • Wico joystick not working
  • C64, to be repaired (one is missing on the photo, but I ended up this month with two failing C64’s). Both were in the more expensive sets, 175 euro each, one was the Video Supergame, the other with the SoundExpander

Miscellaneous

  • Probably 100-150 disks with games
  • 1541c drive
  • a lot of tapes with games
  • some original games
  • boxed 1541-II drive, sold, 35 euro.

A brand new Commodore 64G, green led (the 64G that came with the Video Supergame has a red led). From another collector, aging, and slowly selling his collection. He has bought this one brand new, and stored it. I did a short test, casing is clean and with absolutely no scratches, booklets are new, cabling smells new (omg..do you always smell them..nop, I just noticed that).

Brand new Commodore 64C and 64G

Bought a brand new 64g, boxed. We did a quick test, everything works. The owner/collector was selling this one in absolute mint condition, no scratches at all, nothing, new. Nice. Bought a 64C, late edition as well, with clips, no box. Total 125 euro.

The 64C boxed, new, was used, some scratches on the casing…didn’t bought that one.

Will visit an another collector tomorrow, he is slowly selling off his collection. I will be discussing the buying of two, never used and brand new, Commodore 64’s from his private collection.

Commodore 64 Video Supergame Box

Yes, a supergame 64 on Marktplaats, which is a Commodore 64G. Together with a disk drive and another boxed Commodore 64. Owner says both are working. Paid 175 euro, and pickup tomorrow. Will sell the drive and the Commodore 64, hopefully for 60 euro.

Glad with the supergame!  The set seems complete!

Eprom carts and eprommers

Just made a deal with a seller on Marktplaats, some of they stuff was not listed yet. 100 euro, shipping included. Based on selling prices on Ebay of the Quickbyte and the Dela, as well as the larger Eprom cards. Probably the 100 euro is on the high end of what is offered, but this happens when people are selling off full collections and split everything 🙁

I had a datasette unit, the MC3810, but with no cables. Got some connectivity drawings from Marc to make one myself, but then the ad appeared on Marktplaats of a cable, brand new. The unit is now complete and I can do some testing.

The Final Cartridge Collection / Riska b.v.

A nice overview of the Final Cartridge collection I managed to collect. Latest additions where a FC II with manual in good condition, and a complete boxed FC and FC III.

Both first final cartridges (silver label) are different, due to the fact that one has 80kb memory, and the other one 96kb. Story goes that back in those days, with the first release of the cartridge the buyer could ask for extra features?

The other cartridges on the left have all different “brands”, Riska H&P, H&P Comp and Tasc b.v. (hey do not call me nerdy).

 

So, what is still missing in the collection? As far as I did my research on the internet there were quit some illegal releases abroad of the FC. Wouldn’t mind adding them to the collection! And there was the FC III+ released in 2015, still to be added to the collection

Cat & Korsh / Trilogic / The Expert Cartridge

Currently I’ve got five items in my collection from C&K. I remember that they were primarily huge in the Netherlands in the Commodore market. I guess that collecting from the past is all about not being able back then to have all those nice hardware gadgets….And now, over 40 and having a decent job it is not about the money anymore, just the availability of items 🙂

Toys for the boys, was on the shopping list for 2018, one was just offered on Marktplaats. Second hand, but hardly ever used. Paid 120 euro, shipping included and will receive the toy today when I get home 🙂
